| Thank
you everybody for coming along to-night. Without your support, the
club would never have had such a successful year.
I
should like to thank Gary, the other coaches and the parents, for
all the support. The results speak for themselves, especially in
the track and field. A
big thank you to Mandy for taking on successfully, the under eleven
group, never an easy task, but made to look easy and obviously enjoyable
this year.
Phil
will no doubt give us a financial balance sheet, which shows the
club, with the help of some sponsorship, is very healthy and proves
that to run a club, it doesn't not need vast sums of money. A big
thank you also to Janet and Julie for organizing our barbecue and
skittles.
The
athletes, I hope they have enjoyed themselves. Both coaching and
watching them throughout the year has made me again very proud of
their achievements and behavior both on and off the track. This was
especially so at our last girls league match at High Wycombe.
Competitions this year have gone to plan with the club competing for the
first time in the Hampshire cross-country and Hampshire sportshall
leagues. As a result, I believe we have achieved a balanced programme
of competition for our athletes. It is not proposed to enter any
other team competitions. There is a proposal to merge the young athletes
boys and girls competitions to-gether next year. Our Achilles heel
however remains the lack of boys coming into the club. No doubt there
are some obvious reasons but trying to address them presents the
sport with a major problem.
The
club has continued to train successfully at Applemore in the winter
and Hardley in the summer. The location of our storage facility at
Hardley has been delayed. However Hardley school are trying to complete
this facility as soon as possible.
I
have only given a brief summary of our activities. All our results
are published in the local press, so keep looking out and thank you
for your support. |
