Welcome everyone to our AGM.
Our club has now been going for six years and has achieved something new every year. This year however has been one of largely, consolidation. We competed successfully in most competitions with the possible exception of the National Junior league, where we struggled despite signing on several second claim athletes from Southampton and Andover to bolster our numbers especially in the men’s competition. Cross country teams performed well with several athletes gaining county vests. We again competed at the national young athletes road relays at Birmingham and not forgetting the Hampshire Sportshall league.
Our original development plan continues. We are however hampered by being unable to progress further at Hardley School. As a result the club may have to look elsewhere in the Waterside area to fulfil our ambitions, especially with regard to installing our throws cage.
Our involvement with the schools and colleges continues. We possibly should consider doubling our efforts to attract new athletes especially in the year 7 and 8 age groups. The club has established a satellite club in Ringwood with an aim to introduce athletes from the Ringwood area to the club.
Club training nights continue to be popular and efforts are being made to increase the numbers of our coaches and officials. The club will be seeking Clubmark accreditation in line with the wishes of our governing body.
So a thank you to everyone who helped makes our club so successful, athletes, coaches, officials and helpers. I’m sure our athletes appreciate all the efforts made on their behalf.
