1. Present
Tim Wilding, Cathy Smallwood, Sophie Boot, Charlotte Bates, Tim Parsons, Sharon Bosworth
Apologies
Katherine Smith, Phil Irwin, Dave McManus
2. Minutes of Previous Meeting
a) Under-11 numbers increased at last few training sessions
b) High jump now installed at Hardley
c) All training groups spoken to about discipline and inviting people to sessions who aren’t training, and there has been no reoccurrence of incident.
d) Coach to the Isle of Wight cost £200.
3. Correspondence
a) Coaches relicensing; Coaches need CRB checks on 3-yr cycle. Licenses likely to be renewed unless complaints made. Reassessment for our coaches not likely until 2011, apart from Tim Wilding (possibly in 2008).
b) Athlete licensing; 4 athletes who compete occasionally still need licenses. Likely to wait until membership renewals in autumn to send off for these as only two track competitions left.
4. Team Managers Report - Tim Wilding gave short report on Dave’s behalf.
a) Club have come 3rd out of 8 teams in each of the Young Athletes’ League matches. In the Wessex League, the club came 3rd on the Isle of Wight, but on match on 8th July finished 5th out of 6 teams. Generally felt that the quality of the athletes competing for the club is high, but that numbers are lacking, particularly a lack of B-string competitors.
b) Was noted that appears to be big gap in Under-15 age group.
5. Treasurer’s Report
£309.15 in (June). £318 (May) £617 (April). April’s takings included £200 from Clubmark. £200 paid out for coach to Isle of Wight. Total balance is £2078.03
6. Membership Secretary’s Report
Currently around 100 members. 2 members resigned; Charlotte Bates and Lavinia Nkomo.
7. Under-11s group
a) Mini-games a disaster
b) Wessex Leagues; not enough notice given to parents.
c) Winter training; possible problem with coaching as believed that both Angie and Pete work on Tuesday nights, which is the only time the sportshall is available. Tim Wilding to speak to Angie re. Under-11s training over the summer holidays, during the winter.
d) Tim has the Under-11 t-shirts.
e) Was noted that there are a lot of good under-11 boys, and we need to ensure we maintain their interest into the older age groups.
8. Development Plan
a) Long jump now improved at Noadswood School
b) Synthetic 200m track in the forest would be of value to the club. Grants may be available if can prove that it will be used and will benefit the community.
c) Sportshall: question as to whether should continue to compete in the Hampshire Sportshall League. Considered to be good for Under-11s, but of little value to older age groups. Angie and Dave need to be consulted on this.
Any Other Business
a) Thunder and Lightning: Coaches need to decide whether to evacuate field, and cancel the session if necessary.
b) Coaches register: Tim Wilding needs to register the licence number and expiry date of all coaches’ licences. Coaches: Tim Wilding, Dave McManus, Tim Parsons, Sharon Bosworth, Angie Schreiber, Pete Schreiber, Sophie Boot, Katherine Smith, Connor Power, Carley Holder
c) Skittles Evening: Bold Forester cost £30 to hire, with basket meals at £5.50 each. Club will hire room, but will take deposits for food, and issue tickets for food. Date set for Friday 5th October at 7.00pm
Next Committee Meeting
24th September 2007 at the Pilgrim’s Rest in Marchwood.
