to our 2nd edition of the newsletter. Its catch up time again following our first cross country meeting at Farley Mount and our AGM earlier this month.
Annual General Meeting. The club held its AGM this month. Tim reported that the club had its best season so far on the track with a top three finish in the Young Athletes League and qualifying for the Wessex Young Athletes League for the first time. The following committee members were elected. Chairman, Tim Wilding, Secretary, Cathy Smallwood, Treasurer, Phil Irwin. General. Dave McManus (coaching), Pete Schreiber (under elevens), Catherine Smith (social), Sophie Boot (child welfare), Debbie Martin, Sharon Bosworth and Tim Parsons.
Winter training has commenced on Tuesdays at Noadswood School during term time until Easter 2008. Training times are 6:30 to 8:30 (Under 11s 6:30 to 7:30). The endurance group also meets on Thursdays at Noadswood School at 6:30 for a long run. Between three and four miles is the usual session.
Cross-country We had our first cross country of the season at Farley Mount. Unfortunately we could only turnout six athletes. As a result we were unable to field a team in any age group (three required). Congratulations to those who ran. Tyler had a great run in the U13G race and will no doubt be hoping for county representation. Top eight in the county champs are normally selected to represent the county. Results. U17W Kelly Way 19, Steph Smith 26. U15G Steph Smallwood 46. U13G Tyler Hole 12 and U15B Chris Barton 54. We should have a much better turnout next month for runs at Chichester (10th Nov) and Salisbury (25th Nov).
Skittles Evening. The club will hold a skittles and social evening at Ashlett Creek, Fawley on Saturday 26th January. Contact Tim Wilding on 02380 848914 (or T.WILDING@sky.com) for more information.
Website. Most pages on the website have recently been updated. It’s planned to use the site more, so keep it in your favourites.
New Forest School Sport Partnership. (See their web site at www.nfssp.co.uk) The partnership has now largely assumed responsibility for staging school’s athletic events. We will however continue our support where we can. Sportshall Championships will be held at Applemore on the 24th Nov and the District Schools Cross Country Championships are being held at Gang Warily on 29th Nov. Any help would be most appreciated, especially Sportshall.
