Newsletter of the New Forest Junior Athletic Club
January 2008

Welcome to our latest club newsletter.  We’ll try and keep you up to date and informed of what’s going on in the club, future events, achievements and lots lots more. We’ll publish every month so don’t be too disappointed if something you want published isn’t. Just let us know and we’ll put it in next month.

WelcomeA very happy new year to everyone and welcome to our first newsletter of 2008. We have a busy programme throughout the year involving plenty of cross country and track & field, as well as supporting inter schools competitions and schools development programmes. Training will continue largely as last year, Noadswood during the winter and Hardley in the summer.

Cross Country
We’ve had a very busy start to the season with county champs where we had a great turnout. Tyler was our top finisher in tenth place. We had  13 finishers across the age groups. The following week we had 4 finishers at Reading (Hants League) and again 4 at Bournemouth (Wessex League). Our U13 girls did particularly well at Bournemouth with Tyler 3rd, Georgia 8th and Eli 9th. Whilst I haven’t seen the team results yet its looks as if we were in the top three teams again. Well done girls, Yeovil next stop!  We also had several of our runners representing the New Forest Schools at the Schools County Champs at Gang Warily this month. Kelly is hoping for selection to represent Hants Schools at Liverpool in March. She has been selected to run for Hants Schools in a South East area fixture this month. Best of luck Kelly.

Chrissy Parsons started off 2008 where she left off 2007 with yet another medal at the South of England Indoor Champs. This time it was a bronze in the high jump. Well Done Chrissy.

Skittles Evening.  The club had its first “social” for some time when we hosted a skittles evening at Ashlett Creek, Fawley on Saturday. It was a great evening out with some fun and laughs down the skittle alley.  Together with the entrance  and raffle proceeds we made enough money to book “luxury” coach when we go to the Isle of Wight in the summer. A big thank you to Cathy and her team for organising the evening and to everyone who donated raffle prizes. We’ll have another “social” in the summer, possibly a picnic/barbeque in the forest.

Track and Field It not that far away, so here are some dates and venues.
