Newsletter of the New Forest Junior Athletic Club
June 2008

Welcome to our latest club newsletter.  We’ll try and keep you up to date and informed of what’s going on in the club, future events, achievements and lots lots more. We’ll publish every month so don’t be too disappointed if something you want published isn’t. Just let us know and we’ll put it in next month.

Welcometo our June newsletter. The New Forest Schools track and field championships were held at Bournemouth in May. Congratulations to all our winners. Tyler (150m), Georgia (1000m), Izzy (long jump), Jess (javelin), Jack (1000m), Sophie (long jump), Kia (100m) and Hayley (long jump). In addition there were new records for Tyler, Georgia and Jess. Well done to everyone who competed.

Wessex League-Isle of Wight
The club had a great day out on the Isle of Wight on Sunday 15th June. There were loads of good performances on the day. However the highlight must have been the trip to the beach followed by fish and chips!!! A big thank you to all the Mums and Dads who came along to help and support the team.

National Young Athletes League.
We had a rearranged match at Salisbury at the beginning of the month. WE hosted that day with loads of help from the other clubs. I’m relieved to say that all went well and we’ve maintained our promotion push up to the last match on July 20th A good turnout could secure us promotion for the first time.

New Forest Schools
It’s been a busy month for our athletes representing their schools. The district schools have already been mentioned. Many of our athletes then went on to represent the district at the Hampshire Schools Championships and Sophie, Hayley and Zara also represented Hampshire Schools at an inter counties meeting at Kingston recently.

The Junior schools league has also been in action with two matches being held at Durlston Court and Blackfield. Blackfield and Orchard Schools are leading the tables at present. The final match at Poulner looks like being a great meeting. Also the league has been used to select a district team at the Y5&6 County Champs. More about this in the next newsletter.

Coaching Courses
The next local level one course is on October 11th at Winchester. We have had some volunteers come forward. More are always welcome. If you know of someone interested please let the club know. Coaches (and officials) are the back bone of the club. Without them we wouldn’t be able to compete at our present level.

That’s All Folks for this month.

New Forest School Sport partnership at www.nfssp.co.uk. Our club is working very closely with with the partnership and hopes to improve our links with all the schools, both Junior and Senior in the New Forest. It’s worth a visit.
