Newsletter of the New Forest Junior Athletic Club
November 2008

Welcome to our latest club newsletter.  We’ll try and keep you up to date and informed of what’s going on in the club, future events, achievements and lots lots more. We’ll publish every month so don’t be too disappointed if something you want published isn’t. Just let us know and we’ll put it in next month.

WelcomeAs the last of the leaves fall from the trees, many of our cross country runners will have competed in two Hampshire League meetings and the New Forest Schools cross country championships. Also many of our under elevens have also been competing for their schools in the District Sportshall and Cross Country Relay Championships.

Hampshire Cross Country League
We were able again to field full teams in both the U13 boys and girls at our second meeting of the season at a windy and wet Goodwood, near Chichester earlier this month. Freddy Leigh had a great run to take a best ever 16th. Jamie Shaw was 26, Max Leigh 33, Tim Morgan 42, Bradley Dukes 43, Stephen Simpson 48 and Tom Culley 51. Our team position was 7th. This really good result keeps us well up the league table.

Overall table 1. Aldershot, 2 Team Southampton, 3 Portsmouth, 4 Winchester, 5 Camberley, 6 Poole Runners, 7 New Forest, 8 Reading, 9 Bournemouth, 10 Basingstoke, 11 Andover and 12 Poole AC.

Georgia Morris had her best ever run taking 6th place. Macadie Amoroso 41 and Alix Trennery 45 gave the team 9th place.
Overall table. 1 Aldershot, 2 Winchester, 3 Team Southampton, Reading and Bournemouth, 6 New Forest, Havant and Camberley. 9 Portsmouth.

Our next meeting is at Overton on Dec 6th Detailed results can be obtained from the Hampshire AA website.

Officials Course
Congratulations to Jess, Lindsay and George’s parents for successfully taking the field official’s course recently. This will be a great help to Dave when we take to the track next year.

2009 track and field fixtures
The provisional dates and venues are now starting to appear. It looks as if we will be at Bournemouth, Andover, Isle of Wight and Winchester in the Wessex League and in the Young Athletes League, we travel to Guernsey (yes...Guernsey), Eastbourne, Bournemouth and Portsmouth.
The dates and venues should be confirmed early next year so keep your diaries free.

Training until Xmas
For the next two weeks training will be in the school hall as the sportshall will not be available due to exams. However our final training session before Xmas will be on 16th Dec in the sportshall. We plan to have games, decorated trainers etc. More info to follow.
