to our latest newsletter. With the summer just a memory the club turns to its winter training and competition schedule. After a lot of consideration the club decided only to compete in the Hampshire cross country league. Taking into account schools cross country it was thought that the club had enough competition for its younger age groups.
Southern Road Relays
We only had enough runners to enter one U13 girl’s team and despite their inexperience at this level, Izzie, Macadie and Alix acquitted themselves well and finished in 45th place out of 52. Well done.
Hampshire Cross Country League
We were able to field teams in both the U13 boys and girls at our first meeting of the season at Farley Mount. Jamie led our boy’s team of five into 8th place and Georgia did the same with the girls giving them 7th place on the day. Well done to Jamie, Freddy, Tim, Max and Bradley, Georgia, Macadie and Alix. For the team to score we need at least three runners at each fixture to keep in the league table. Our next meeting is at Chichester on Nov 8th. Detailed results can be obtained from the Hampshire AA website.
Winter Training at Noadswood
Training has now started at Noadswood School. Jess and Steph have taken over the coaching of the U11s. We wish them well and hope they stay as coaches with us for a long time to come. Lindsay has joined our sprint group as a coach and depending on her university studies will be available on a regular basis. Congratulations to Catherine on her level two course. She will not only remain part of the endurance coaching team but also will coach throws. The Sportshall will not be available on the 28th October (half term) or 4th November (exams). As a result, there will be no training for the U11s.
Officials Course
Hampshire AA is running various officials courses at Basingstoke on 9th and 16th November. We desperately need to increase the number of officials within the club. If you are interested, please let Tim now as soon as possible. The last date for entry is 25th October. Courses relate to timekeeping, track judging, starter/marksman and field. The field official’s course is on the 16th November. Some extra field officials would help our club enormously. In addition to our older athletes, perhaps you might know of a parent or even grandparent who may be interested. There is no exam to worry about.
Annual General Meeting
The club held its AGM on the 6th October. A full set of minutes will be available shortly on the club website. New committee members are Stephanie Smith, Jess Martin and Lindsay Atkinson. All but one of last year’s committee members was re-elected. There will be a skittles/presentation evening in mid January. The meeting discussed planned improvements to facilities at Noadswood School. More to follow.
