Welcome to our second newsletter of 2009. We’ve just about completed all of our cross country fixtures with our last Hampshire league match at Salisbury in early February. Georgia and Jamie were selected to run for Hampshire schools after their great runs at Alton. In addition Georgia had a late call up to represent Hampshire in the UK Inter Counties Championships at Nottingham in March.
Hampshire Cross Country League
We had a really good turnout of eleven runners available for the fixture at Salisbury on the 14th February. Our girl’s team were seventh on the day with Georgia having another fine run in 13th place. Hannah was 38, Macadie 43 and Alix 55. For the boys, Jamie was 19th Stephen 23, Callum 25, Freddy 31, Tom 33, Tim 35 and Max 52. The team were 6th. Well done and thanks to both teams.
Skittles/Presentation Evening
Look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at our club evening on Saturday 7th March at The Bold Forester starting at 7pm. There are medals for everyone who have represented the club in the last year, plus awards for record breakers and those who have represented Hampshire AA.
Track and Field season
Our track season starts in April with a Wessex league match at Bournemouth on April 26th. Our training will now concentrate on track and Field events. So if the opportunity arises, for example, .long jump etc why not give it a try. Many of our athletes have achieved remarkable performances by competing in second or third events in the past.
Noadswood School
Whilst it’s still in the planning stage, our aspirations in securing an all weather floodlight training area are progressing well and we should know the outcome very soon. If successful, this will give the club a very valuable and unique training facility to develop many of the skills of our young athletes.
