Happy new year to all our athletes and coaches. Thank you for last year’s efforts and support. 2009 is a new year and we all have to start all over again whether its cross country or track & field. Let’s set our goals now and go for it in 2009!!!
Hampshire Cross Country League
We only had five runners available for the first fixture of the year at Reading on the 3rd January. Our girl’s team were seventh on the day with Georgia having a fine run in 12th place. Macadie was 34 and Alix 41. For the boys, Jamie was 28th and Tim 36. The last Hampshire League match is at Salisbury on Saturday 14th February.
Hampshire Cross Country Championships
The following week many of our runners took part in the county champs at Dibden. The turnout was really good with seven girls and eight boys, all under thirteen’s.
Georgia had a great run to finish 8th and a place in the Hampshire team next month for a inter counties match in Bedfordshire. A really fine achievement. Macadie also had a great run to finish 34. Other finishers were Hannah Smith (41), Issie Toop (42), Libby Biffin (48), Rosie Young (50) and Alix Trennary (53). Our girl’s team were sixth. For the boys, Jamie Shaw was 33, Tim Morgan 36, Freddy Leigh 37, Max Leigh 39, Callum Bigg 46, Bradley Dukes 49 and Tom Cully 50. The boy’s teams were eighth and eleventh. A fantastic turnout, well done everybody.
New Forest Schools Cross Country Championships
We had some great results from the New Forest Schools Championships. Highlights were Georgia who won the Junior girl’s race with Sophie Baker second. Melissa Hufton was seventh. Dylan Knight won the Junior boy’s race with Max Leigh third, Freddy Leigh fourth and Jack Hawkins eighth. In the Intermediate girl’s, Harriet Hoare was second and Steph Smallwood eighth.
