Hello Everyone. Welcome to our October newsletter. With the increasing popularity of the club it has been decided to reintroduce our training sessions at Orchard School on Sundays. More details below.
Under Eleven’s Group
Our under eleven’s group has now grown so much (30+) that any new children wishing to come along will, with regret, still have to go on a waiting list. We don’t have enough space in the sportshall or coaches to cater for any more at present.
Sunday training
The club is pleased to announce that training will commence at Orchard Junior School, Dibden Purlieu on Sunday mornings 1030 to 1200 pm. This will be open to all, including U11s. Training will include most events, including cross country, depending on availability of coaches and equipment. If you wish to attend just let your coach know. The club would like to thank Orchard School for allowing us the use of the school facilities.
UKA Young Athletes League
Winning Div 2 South West last season means we have been promoted to Div 1. So next season we have the following clubs in our division, Bracknell, Camberley, Chiltern, Ealing, Kingston Poly, Thames Valley Harriers, Woking and Wycombe Phoenix. All these clubs have strong squads. So we’ll need to attract some more athletes to fill our empty events in both A & B strings.
Cross Country
We completed our first cross country meeting of the season at Winchester this month. We were able to field two boy’s teams. In the U13s race, Jamie Shaw (11:02s) was the first junior to finish in 15th. Tom Culley was a few seconds behind (11:17) in 23rd and Tim Morgan (12:21s) was 50th Team placing was a creditable 8th out of 12. Stephen Simpson (14:36s) was our first U15 home in 30th place. Freddy Leigh was 43rd (15:30), Max Leigh (16:08s) 49th and Matt Read 55 (17:32s). The team were 10th. Alix Trennery was our only girl to compete, coming 54th. Well done and thanks to everyone who turned out. Our next fixture is at Goodwood on 7th November.
