We’ll publish every month so don’t be too disappointed if something you want published isn’t. Just let us know and we’ll put it in next month.

Happy Xmas and a very Merry New Year to everyone in the club! Well this is the last edition of 2006. We’ve had quite a year with a move to Noadswood School and some reorganising of responsibilities within the club. Whilst everything hasn’t necessarily gone to plan, the club appears now to be increasing its appeal again with the membership going up. A big thank you to all the coaches and helpers for making it possible.

Unfortunately due to school exams we lost the sportshall yet again until after Xmas this time. Sorry about this, it wasn’t foreseen and our apologies to Angie and the U11s especially who haven’t been able to use the sportshall this term. We’ll do our best to make it up after Xmas, promise.

Our merry band of endurance runners have continued to compete in both the Hants, Wessex and District Schools competitions. In the Hants XC fixture at Overton in early December, Kelly was 9th in the U17s race and Rachael 17th. The U15s were able to turn out a team with Michelle 28th, Stephanie 30th and Jess 37th. The team finished 7th. With three U13s available. We took 6th place with Tyler coming 24th, Jess 27th and Gemma 38th. Charlotte had a fine finish in 16th place in the senior woman’s race.
We only had four runners at Devizes in the Wessex XC meeting on Sunday. However the muddy course was a real challenge with a few stream crossings thrown in for effect. Although Kelly was the first junior home in 8th place with Stephanie not far behind in 11th; the honours on the day went to Rachael who carried on round with only one running shoe losing the other one in the mud early on in the race! Well done Rachael. Younger sister, Stephanie was 23rd in the under fifteen girl’s race.
- In addition to club races, many of the club’s runner’s took part in the New Forest District Schools Champs at Gang Warily. Just about everyone qualified for the county champs in January
(and U13/14s in February). A well done and don’t forget to keep the training up over Xmas!!
- Dave’s sprint group travelled to Eton this month for an indoor open meeting.
- Don’t forget the club’s Xmas training party on Tuesday. Prizes galore for best decorated trainers,
relays and fun events.
