to the October (including September) edition of the Junior’s newsletter. Well, the cross country season has started with our first fixture at Farley Mount. Before that the club had five teams out for the South of England Road Relays at Aldershot.
South of England Road Relays at Aldershot at the end of September provided another first for the club as we were able to field a senior women’s team of Charlotte, Laura and two coaches, Cathy and Catherine both competing for the first time! A big thanks to them as they also had the take on the likes of internationals Benita Johnson and Sonia O’Sullivan. Despite finishing well down everyone had a great day out and thoroughly enjoyed competing against the best in the South.
Early this month we competed in our first cross country of the season, a Hampshire League fixture at Farley Mount. Kelly was our highest finisher in 11th place. Others who turned out were Gemma and Harriet in the U13s, Jess, Stephanie and Michelle for the U15s, Kelly and Rachael in the U17s and Charlotte in the seniors race. Two of our regular members of the endurance group have departed to university. Laura has gone to Bath and Willow to Cambridge. We wish them well and they both assure me that they will keep up their training.
The club held it’s AGM at the beginning of the month. Due to lack of support, it was decided not to enter the National Junior League next season. The club will continue to develop and strengthen its links with Noadswood School. Annual subs have been increased to £5 per year. New members to the committee are Catherine (social) and Tim Parsons.
Unfortunately the Sportshall will now not be available until two weeks after half term due to building work. Thus indoor training for all the groups will now be delayed accordingly. |
