In ideal weather conditions, the Juniors travelled up to Rushmoor Arena, Aldershot to compete in the S of EAA relays. This competition attracts many of the top clubs in the south of England from Cornwall to Norwich and as a result is highly competitive.
The under seventeen women’s team were best placed on the day with lead runner Kelly Way taking 26th place in 12:21 over the 3k course. Rachael Smallwood ran the second leg in 14:19 and Stephanie Smith completed third leg in 14:28 to secure 30th place overall out of 33.
In the under fifteen’s girl’s race over 3k, the A team of Alice Cole ran the first leg in 12:44 followed by Michelle Powell in 13:36. Jessica Martin ran the last leg in 14:49 taking 53rd place. The Junior’s B team of Amelia Faulkner-White (13:53), Stephanie Smallwood (13:42) and Marie Atkinson (15:57) took 57th place out of 58.
The under thirteen girl’s team of Harriet Hoare (10:20), Jemma Brown (10:54) and Jessica Derbyshire (10:06) were 41st overall of the 50 team who finished the 2.3k course.
The Juniors were able to enter a senior women’s team for the first time with Charlotte Bates (15:12), Laura Pankhurst (17:58), Catherine Smith (16:10) and Cathy Smallwood (21:46) completing the course in 46th place out of 49 over the 3.85k course.
