The Juniors travelled for the second time this season to the Isle of Wight after qualifying for the Wessex Young Athletes League Cup final. This was the first time the club had ever qualified for the cup final and as a result found the final tough but the athletes relished the chance to compete with the top clubs in the league.
The under thirteen girl’s put in some impressive performances with newcomer Sophie Baker winning the long jump with a splendid second round effort of 4.31m. Sophie went on to take second in the 100m (14.6s) and third in the 200m (31.1).
Chrissy Parsons not only won the under seventeen’s high jump with 1.65m but also took the honours in a very competitive 200m with a fine 25.8s. Chrissy has had a great season so far, taking silver in the English Schools inter girls high jump, which earned her an English Schools International vest where she came third against Scotland, Wales and Ireland schools.
