The Juniors achieved a fine team performance at Portsmouth on Sunday 18th May for their second Division Two (South West) League match of the season. Despite a strong head wind in the sprints, conditions were otherwise good with plenty of sunshine. A strong under thirteen age group helped put the Juniors into second position on the day.
In the under thirteen girl’s age group, there was yet another hit trick of wins for Tyler Hole. This time in the 150m (21.6s), 800m (2:27.7s) and long jump (4.13m). Rosie Young in her first competition won the “B”150 (23.2s), took second in the high jump on count back (1.30m) and was third in the 75m (11.7s). Eli Gennings was first in the “B” long jump (3.38m). Georgia Morris had fine win in the 1200m (4:21.5). Macadie Amorso won the “B”shot (4.20m). The Junior’s relay team of Tyler, Rosie, Georgia and Eli won the 4x100 relay in 61.1s. The boys, in the same age group had several good wins. Freddie Leigh won the 1500m (5:23.0). Jamie Shaw won the “B”1500m (5:23.9s). George Hayward was second in the 100m (15.1s). However he went one better in the long jump with a winning jump of 4.20m. Kieran Parsons won the “B”100m (15.7s). The 4x100m relay team of Freddie, Jamie, George and Max Leigh had to settle for second place with a time of 61.3s.
In the under fifteen girl’s age group, Sam Parsons and Emily Shore were both in fine form. In the 100m Emily won in 14.4s with Sam taking the “B” race in the same time. Times for both girls in the 200m were again very close. Emily won in 28.4s with Sam winning the “B” race in 28.5s. Emily also won the “B” shot putt (5.86m).
Marie Atkinson had two wins in the under seventeen women’s competition, winning both the high jump (1.45m) and discus (18.00m). Chrissy Parsons was first in the “B” javelin (18.41) as was Steph Smallwood in the “B” javelin (14.71m). Chris Barton had two fine wins in the under seventeen’s men’s age group. Chris was first in the 800m (2:19.8s) and the 400m (59.6s). Dan Perkis was first in the “B”400m (66.7s). Marcus Smith won the discus (28.83m) and was second in the shot putt (8.89m).
Match result. Winchester 380, New Forest Juniors 246, Havant 222 Salisbury & Bath 174 and Fleet and Crookam 56.
