With only a small number of athletes available, the Juniors travelled to Winchester for their fourth and final Wessex Young Athletes League match of the season.
Conditions were far ideal with strong winds and occasional showers. However the Juniors were able to produce several fine performances against very some strong opposition.
The under thirteen boy’s squad produced a second place for Tom Cully in the 1500m with a time of 5:13.9s and a first place in the high jump B (1.30m). Callum Bigg produced a fine grade three performance in the high jump (1.35m) but had to settle for second place on count back.
Pick of the U15 boy’s events was the 1500m with Jack Hawkins’s taking third place (5:00.0s) and Stephen Simpson winning the B event in 5:18.4s.
The under seventeen’s boys team had wins for Liam James in the 200m (24.8s) and long jump (5.99m). Sam Backhouse won the 200m B event in 26.0s.
In the under thirteen girls age group, there was a second place for Rosie Young both in the 200m (30.0s) and the high jump (1.25m).
Emily Shore had a fine win in the under fifteen girl’s 200m, just managing to cross the line first in 28.7s.
For the under seventeen women, Marie Atkinson won the high jump with a season’s best of 1.53m with Harriet Hoare taking the B event (1.35m).
