Charlotte Bates produced the performance of the day for New Forest Juniors in the opening Royal Navy Hampshire Cross-Country League fixture at Farley Mount, Winchester.
Competing in the under-17 women's category, Bates stormed to a best-ever third place in 14 minutes 47 seconds.
In the under-13 girls' race Gemma Knell was the club's first finisher in 17th (9.33), followed by Michelle Powell (10.08) in 26th and Stephanie Smallwood (10.12) in 29th. Newcomer Frankie Hooper clocked 10.18 for 30th and the team placed sixth.
Alice Cole led the way in tenth (11.55) in the under-15 girls' event with Becky Knell a couple of places behind in 12th (12.03). Another club newcomer, Kelly Way, completed a fine team performance in 19th place (12.29), leaving the team third on the day. Amelia Faulkner-White (13.36) and Rachael Smallwood (14.04) came 41st and 46th respectively.
Laura Pankhurst was below her best in the under-20 women's race, placing 20th in 28.59, while Dan Powell, the Juniors' only male athlete, was 27th under-15 boy in 15.26.
